Cool on the Inside; Hot on the Outside
Photography Exhibition by Norm Yip
18 Oct – 16 Nov 2013
I believe that the best photography for me happens without a script. It is more like a random act of shooting and thinking on the spot, than a well planned, manufactured set of ideas. The sculptor Andy Goldworthy demonstrated this by throwing tree branches into the air and photographing their high point of potential energy. This is how I photographed Loren Tam. One set of images was shot in my Chai Wan studio. It was highly erotic and sensual, as it brought about both tension and excitement. The second session was in a modern studio flat in Causeway Bay. Loren emanates a disposition in character that I find highly intriguing. Unabashed and confident, he possesses an external beauty that oozes with sexuality and Asian masculinity. I have selected a total of 12 photographs that demonstrate the unique chemistry of photographer and model, of voyeur and exhibitionist. Loren is cool on the inside; hot on the outside. — Norm Yip, Sept 6, 2013
